We have begun our state testing, please make sure to check your students testing calendar to help them get a good night sleep and eat a good breakfast in the morning, and also to make sure that they test their best.

Spotlight on Keppel Academy: 3/12/17

Keppel Academy’s students are all showing growth in their academics, our parents love how much our teachers care and give their best efforts to their children every day, and our staff is simply amazing at what they do and the best staff that you could ask for.

Keppel Academy has sent every student on their second field trip and each student will get to go on their third field trip this spring.  Our 5th graders were able to go to the LaBrea Tar Pits. Student Tiahna Osorio said, “Going to the LaBrea Tar Pits was really cool because there were a lot of different animal bones , we got to roll down the hills, and by a tree we saw real tar.  There were Mammoth bones and Mastodon bones, but my favorite fossil was the Direwolves bones because they looked really cool and there were a lot of them.”

In addition to our monthly student activities, assemblies, and guest speakers, we are in the middle of putting on our second play performance “Good Cop / Bad Cop”, AVID College Night, AVID Career Night, Golden Ticket Reward Days for recognizing students with their iReady math and reading results, and also their Lexile reading level.  Our students are excited to be one of three schools that will get to participate in the Wonder Media Story Maker program where we will be able to create our own animation movies, and nine 7th graders were invited to Crystalaire Country Club and will get a free golfing lesson by Professional Golfer, Alan Arveson.

Keppel Academy Students Experiences

Our students were able to check out the Natural History Museum. 7th grader, Arlene Villalpando said "It was amazing. IO had a great experience because I got to learn something new. My favorite was the diamonds because they had a whole bunch of designs in them and they were huge."

Our 8th grade students were lucky to be able to get a tour of the USC campus and then follow that up with stop at the California Science Center where they got to see an IMAX movie called "Our Beautiful Planet." Student ASB President said, "IT was definitely one of the best experiences ever. The field trip provided a lot of knowledge to us and it also gave us time to enjoy the new stuff that we don't exactly always get to see, or we can't always get to do, because we live in the desert."

Student Rewards

Keppel Academy continues to reward our students for their hard work and best efforts in both academics and also in their behaviors. Our Academy Award are huge hit with our students as we use them to reward students who go above and beyond. Our Golden Ticket events are used to rewards students' academic efforts.
